Calling all animal lovers!! In the past few years the many and varied animals which accompanied our servicemen and women as they served our nations are being recognised and their various roles respected. The Friends of ANZAC Cottage together with the Australian War Animal Memorial Organisation invites you to join us, as we devote our ANZAC Afternoon to acknowledge National War Animal Day. It is surprising to learn that creatures such as reindeer, canaries and glowworms along with the universally respected pigeons, dogs, horses and donkeys played significant roles in saving lives and in comforting the troops. War Animal Day will be marked with a talk at 2:00pm and a short ceremony at 2:30pm. In addition there will be activities and purple poppy making for all.
The event will be held at ANZAC Cottage, 38 Kalgoorlie Street, Mount Hawthorn with free entry and afternoon tea available for a gold coin donation. Ice creams and cool drinks are also available for sale.
